Adela Romanowska was the daughter of Herzel Romanowski (commercial manager in Łódź).
After attending a humanistic grammar school in her hometown, she initially trained as a piano teacher at the Łódź Conservatoire and offered piano lessons in her parents' flat (Dowborczyków 15), as indicated by an advertisement in the newspaper of social democratic orientation Głos Poranny.
She was then enrolled on the degree programme at the Viennese University for World Trade during the winter semester of 1937/38 and the summer semester of 1938. Here, she was one of the few Jewish students who were still allowed to sit exams after Austria’s ‘Anschluss’ to Nazi Germany (mid-June 1938). On June 27, 1938, she was deregistered from the University; she received a departure certificate.
As of July 1, 1938, Adela deregistered her apartment at Heiligenstädterstraße 5/5 (19th district of Vienna), where she had lived in a shared apartment with Aniela Lerner, and returned to Łódź. Just a few days before deregistering her flat, she and Aniela Lerner had expressed an interest in studying at the Business School of St Gallen (Switzerland). However, unlike Aniela Lerner, she has clearly not put this intention into practice.
Her subsequent fate after returning from Vienna to Łódź is unknown.
