In Vienna, Rubin Meschnik lived at Novaragasse 17/16, from November 1937 at Untere Augasse 26/19 (both in the 2nd district of Vienna). After studying for two semesters at the Handelshochschule Lemberg/Lwow (then Poland, now Ukraine), he was enrolled at the University for World Trade in the winter semester 1937/38 and summer semester 1938. As a Jew, he could not continue his studies after the 'Anschluss' of Austria. On March 26, 1938, he left Vienna and returned to Tarnopol. His further fate is unknown.
His father, the merchant Elias Meschnik (born 1890), became a victim of the Holocaust: he was murdered in 1942 in his hometown Tarnopol.
