The English version is based on a translation by artificial intelligence. The authentic version is the German version.
Szlama was the son of the Łódź merchant Jankiel (also: Yaakov or Yakow) Blum (born 1893 in Wiślica) and his wife Dora (born 1895 in Jędrzejów, maiden name Zilbershatz). His siblings were Yehushua (born 1916 in Chmielnik, also called Szyja), Tova (born 1920 in Chmielnik), Rachel (born 1923 in Chmielnik), and Hesiek Tzvi (born 1927). The family resided at Lodz Pomorska 6.
After completing his high school diploma in Lodz, Szlama enrolled at the University for World Trade for the winter semester of 1937/38 and the summer semester of 1938 for the diploma program. Following the subsequent annexation of Austria to the Third Reich, the Jewish student must have prematurely discontinued his second semester. He ensured to vacate his apartment at Capistrangasse 2/19 (6th district of Vienna) about a week after the German Wehrmacht's invasion of Austria. He then returned to Lodz.
He himself and his wife Bilha Blum (born 1920, maiden name Fais) survived the Holocaust and World War II. The couple had two children, one of whom Doron Yehusua (born January 7, 1952, in Tel Aviv) passed away in 1975. Szlama, who Hebraized his first name to Shlomo at an unknown time, died on May 3, 1984; he was buried in the Holon Cemetery in Bat Yam, a city located in the southern metropolitan area of Tel Aviv. The tombstone also bears the names of his parents, who fell victim to the Shoah (see below). Bilha passed away on December 29, 1999.
A large part of the other family members, however, were murdered during the Shoah. Further information will follow shortly.
