Haim David Oliver was enrolled at the University for World Trade for four semesters between the winter semester 1936/37 and the summer semester 1938. However, after the 'Anschluss' of Austria, the Jewish student could no longer participate in the academic program, as he was deregistered on April 20, 1938. The last exam he was able to take at the university was the First (general) examination (February 15, 1938). Although he passed the examination, there is no record of either an examination certificate or a departure certificate in the documents. According to his friend Leon Lazarov, he also studied music in Vienna (composition, singing, and piano) between 1936 and 1938.

On July 31, 1938, Oliver married Frieda Palker in Vienna, who also studied at the University for World Trade until the 'Anschluss' of Austria. This day was the last opportunity to enter into a marriage legally before a rabbi; according to „Law for the Standardization of Marriage and Divorce Rights in the Land of Austria and in the Rest of the Reich Territory“ from July 6, 1938, a marriage was only valid from the following day if it was conducted before a civil registrar. For the wedding, Oliver specially traveled from Sofia; he had given up his apartment at Tendlergasse 5/13 (9th district) at an unknown time after the 'Anschluss'. A few weeks after the wedding, he was registered for a few weeks at Papagenogasse 1a/1/7 (6th district of Vienna), before returning to Sofia on September 17, 1938.

Like his wife and sister, Oliver survived the Holocaust and World War II. In 1959, he passed an exam at the journalism school in Sofia. He worked as a writer and screenwriter. He passed away in 1986.
