Hedda Harmann was the daughter of Simon Harmann (representative). She lived at Pelikangasse 4/1/2/7 (9th district of Vienna).

Between the winter semester of 1935/36 and the winter semester of 1937/38, she was enrolled at the University for World Trade for five semesters. She completed her last examinations in October 1937 (mandatory colloquiums after the fourth semester). The last semester needed for the successful completion of her diploma studies could not be attended due to the 'Anschluss' of Austria. After the invasion of the Wehrmacht in Austria, Harmann had to leave the university without a diploma due to her Jewish descent. By June 30, 1938, she also lost her position at Keesing's Archiv der Gegenwart. Since then, she was unemployed. At that time, her only material possession consisted of a gold wristwatch worth 60 Reichsmark.

On September 6, 1938, Hedda Harmann registered her departure to Great Britain. In the London district of Lambeth, she married Richard C.V. Grey in the first quarter of 1945. By the following year, she was registered in the City of London. After that, her trail goes cold.
