Herta Gruebel was enrolled at the University for World Trade for four semesters between the winter semester 1936/37 and the summer semester 1938. However, her enrollment for the summer semester 1938 was reversed after the 'Anschluss' of Austria. The last exam that the Jewish student took was the First (general) exam (February 15, 1938).
She was the daughter of the doctor Dr. Josef Joachim Gruebel, who succumbed to an illness in early 1934, and Helene Gruebel (née Halberthal), as well as the younger sister of Theodor Gruebel, who also studied at the University for World Trade. Her further fate is unknown.
She left the apartment at Nickelgasse 1/1/4 (2nd district of Vienna), where Herta had lived for several years with her mother and brother, on October 3, 1938, to emigrate to Great Britain.
